Trouw Nutrition USA-Companion Animal business unit is focused on advancing nourishment of the world’s pets by providing premium pet food companies with the highest-quality custom ingredient blends supported by exceptional customer care and nutrition expertise. We are seeking a Laboratory Technician in Highland, IL

This role supports the Laboratory goals and works closely with Quality & Food Safety team.  It has routine contact with customers, auditors, suppliers as well as laboratory vendors and testing facilities.  This role assists in assuring the goals and objectives for production processes of the company meet or exceed specification and laboratory expectations of customers.

About The Role

Responsibilities:

• Perform tests and report data into LIMS for in-house testing (e.g. mycotoxin, salmonella, bulk density via PFT, sieve testing, ionophore). Ensure ingredients and finished product meet specification as directed through LIMS.

• Ensure samples for analysis by internal and external laboratories are acquired and processed in LIMS for compliance with customer requests and analytical needs.

• Complete internal records/documentation and maintain document management as required.

• Update Laboratory SOPs and forms as needed to accurately reflect current laboratory processes and requirements.

• Make recommendations for continuous improvement of lab programs and assist with the environmental monitoring program.

• Conduct routine instrument maintenance and cleaning.

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, food science/food safety, or combination of education & commensurate experience, preferred. Additionally, candidates with applicable practical experience in a related field will be considered.

• Strong attention to detail for accuracy and reporting

• Advanced MS Office Suite experience. Proficiency in LIMS

• Strong math and deductive reasoning skills with emphasis in statistics. 

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

• Ability to work both in a team setting and individually with minimal supervision
